With styling like this I wish I had synesthesia

Food by Imke Klee

Loving everything about food, I most certainly love to see the work of food stylists. Behold the work of Imke Klee! Imke hails from Northern Germany and has a host of talents: Photographer, stylist and trend researcher – not to mention Li Edelkoort employee! I came across her work from clicking one site to the next to the next and I am very glad I did. The work of Imke’s shown in this blog was shot by antonios mitsopoulos.

Eggs and Ironware

There is a very subtle yet deliberate symmetry to Imke’s work. Note, the salt and pepper pots angled the same position as the frying pan handle not to mention at top the lower saltine and the veggies all askew at the same degree.

Salmon on enamelware

I love the vintage feel of the shot on the left. Starting from the gently worn tile to the iron enamelware to the slightly rusted lemon strainer. Like i’ve said many times before, the gently worn feel of work like this gives a sense of realism – it makes you think that you have captured a moment of a real persons life instead of just observing a carefully curated and styled ‘scene’. I want to live in the world of the person whose home looks like the left shot!

Blue and Bread

There are no more than a variant of five colours in the two shots above. The subtle patterns and variations of these colours make the shots interesting, appealing and not the slightest bit boring. There is a simple beauty to Imke’s work. The scenes are not cluttered but they are interesting. They are sparsely colourful yet complimentary. I feel at home in Imke’s shots – and to me that is one of the best signs of an effective stylist.
